The Colosseum is without doubt one of the wonders of the world , incredible place but out visit was spoiled by ridiculous pettiness and very rude staff. I’d booked two Colosseum experience tickets on… Full review by nick7p

We had a small group tour booked (6 people) with Viator, our guide was Matteo & can honestly say how amazing he was. Very knowledgeable with humour thrown in, would 100% recommend. Full review by John G

I would disagree...there aren't that many different tours. Perhaps you are commenting on the number of different third party tour operators. Be aware that if you book through a third party (and not through the official ticketing website), your reservation is NOT guaranteed. You could make a reservation right now for next summer with a third party and they may send a cancellation email days before your trip to Rome. If you want to avoid that situation, wait for the ticket / tour release and book through the official website. One downside of booking through the official website is that they currently do not offer a tour which covers all 3 attractions - the Colosseum, RF and PH. If you want your tour to include the RF and PH, you will need to book through a third party.
We are looking for an in-depth (live, not audio) guided tour of the Colosseum including Belvedere terrace, imperial balcony, arena floor, and underground. I can’t figure out if each area is a separate ticket or not. I found shore excursions from Civitavecchia that visit different parts of the colosseum like seating area and terraces, or the arena floor and gladiators gate, or underground, ranging 85€ - 150€, lasting 7 hours. All include palatine hill and the forum. We’re not interested in the other sites in the area, as we visited them on a prior visit. We just want to spend a few hours exploring the colosseum. I appreciate any guidance or recommendations you can give in figuring this out.

No ticket will allow you to visit all areas of the Colosseum. The general admission ticket allows you to visit Level 1 and Level 2. There are various Full Experience tickets - the Attic (Levels 3, 4 and 5), the Underground (Level 0) and the Arena Floor. Those tickets allow you to visit one of those areas (the area named on the ticket) plus the general admission areas.
Hi there David. My wife and I are due to travel to Rome next March and looking for a colpete guided tour of the Colosseum. Very keen to have underground access and arena floor access. Would need guided tour in English please. Who did you use?

Be aware that NO third party tour operator has March 2025 tickets in hand right now. So if you make a reservation now, you are buying an IOU and not actual tickets. Sure, when tickets are released, the third party tour operator will try to find tickets for you to fulfill the order, but there are lots of complaints from customers who booked 6+ months in advance and then receive a cancellation email about a week before their trip to Rome because the company they bought from could not secure tickets. To avoid this type of issue, book direct through the official website - the official website sells both guided tours as well as entry tickets to the Underground.
We will be in Rome on a Sunday and Monday. We will have to visit the Colosseum on Sunday and it happens to be the first Sunday of the month. I just found out that first Sundays are free admissiont to the Colosseum (probably not the best day, but that's what it is). I was wondering if anyone know if it is still possible to book online for the first Sunday of the month, or if tickets are only available at the site on a first come first serve basis. Appreciate any help or suggestions.

There are no advance tickets on first Sundays - you queue up and wait in line to enter. Be aware that many of the "extra" areas of the Colosseum are closed on that day - the Underground, the Arena Floor, and the Attic (Upper Levels) are all closed. Further, the Super Sites in the Roman Forum + Palatine Hill are also closed on that day.
Come alternativa al tour con guida (sono con figli al seguito e andremo molto piano) e all'app (che mi pare non molto affidabile) è possibile noleggiare le classiche audioguide?

You don't indicate which app you are talking about. I will assume you are talking about the park's MyColosseum app. Besides the official app, there are several other apps to download audioguides - both paid and free. One popular free app is Rick Steves. If you would rather pay for one, Context Tours allow you to download audioguides of various attractions for a fee. Regarding the physical devices, the last I heard they were still available on site but they were planning on phasing them out.
