Harris County Commissioners Court on Thursday gave final approval to its financial plan for the upcoming year, including an 8% increase in the county's property tax rate for the new fiscal year beginning on Oct.

Shawnee County leaders have approved the 2025 budget and the increases that come with it. The Shawnee County Board of Commissioners signed off on its 2025 budget Thursday morning. Overall, commissioners approved a budget that increased nearly $6 million from the 2024 budget.

Elected officials will receive a 9.2% raise this year – their first pay increase since 2016 – but Harris County's eight elected constables won an even higher 17.5% increase after taking their salary complaints to a grievance committee last month.
