President Joe Biden has signed into law a measure that boosts Social Security payments for current and former public employees.

U.S. Rep. Richard Neal said the bill President Joe Biden signed into law Sunday afternoon that increases Social Security payments for some public employees will affect more than 100,000 residents in Massachusetts.

The new law repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset, which affect some public workers.

President Joe Biden plans to sign the Social Security Fairness Act into law on Sunday afternoon, the White House announced Friday night.
