President-elect Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis played a round of golf on Tuesday as the Florida governor prepares to name his replacement for soon-to-be top diplomat Sen. Marco Rubio. Rubio’s confirmation hearing to head up the State Department is scheduled for Wednesday.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday that he will “have somebody ready to go” to fill the U.S. Senate vacancy created by Marco Rubio. Given the slim GOP U.S. House majority, he suggested the appointee should come from outside of Congress.

Flags across the U.S. are currently at half-staff in recognition of the death of former President Jimmy Carter. DeSantis’ move to briefly raise the flags on Jan. 20 at the Florida Capitol and other state buildings mirrors decisions made by governors in several other states following complaints from Trump.
