Dexter: Resurrection has brought back one of the most famous fictional vigilante serial killers, Dexter Morgan, to life literally. Dexter was assumed dead when his son, Harrison Morgan, shot him in the chest in the climactic finale of Dexter: New Life.

Meanwhile, “Dexter” approaches its 20th year on its third spinoff, bringing its namesake antihero back from the dead for yet another bite at the apple. The whole situation is as grimly amusing as “Dexter” used to be in its prime.

Resurrection give us a new setting, a new hero, a parade of fun guest stars, and – most importantly – a compelling reason for Dexter being back at all.
