A massive crash on I-35W has claimed the life of one person, according to the State Patrol, and shut down traffic on the interstate.

One person is dead after a major crash on Interstate-35W in Mounds View late Tuesday morning, according to authorities. Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Mike Lee said the crash happened in the southbound lanes around 10 a.m. and involved seven vehicles, including at least one commercial vehicle.

The crash site is on the border of Mounds View and Arden Hills. During the investigation and cleanup afterward, I-35W south was closed for several hours between U.S. 10 and Ramsey County Road I, along with U.S. 10 eastbound at the exit ramp to I-35W south.
