The Philippines' Kanlaon volcano erupted for nearly four minutes, shooting ash 2.5 miles into the sky and prompting the emergency evacuation of some 87,000 people.

A volcano in the central Philippines erupted for a second time this year, prompting emergency evacuations after it spewed a huge of column of ash into the sky, authorities said on Monday.

The Philippines reported an “explosive eruption” at Kanlaon Volcano in its central Negros island, prompting authorities to advise evacuation around the volcano’s six-kilometer radius.
