Rob Blake is out after eight seasons as the Los Angeles Kings' vice president and general manager. The Kings announced a mutual parting with Blake on Monday, four days after Los Angeles lost to Edmonton in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Blake was a defenseman for the Kings across 14 different seasons during a playing career that also included stops with the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. He played for Los Angeles for the first 12 seasons of his career from 1989-90 until it traded him to Colorado during the 2000-01 campaign and then returned for two seasons from 2006-08.

Three of the six games in the series went into overtime, with Los Angeles winning two of those three contests. The series became tied at two games apiece, before Edmonton outscored Los Angeles 11-7 in the final two games. Stuart Skinner shined in net, saving 65 shots across Games 5 and 6.
