Snow is expected across Michigan early Thursday morning. Here's how much snow different areas of the state will get.

Every winter is different in West Michigan. Sometimes shockingly so. Still, a look at the records shows that typically Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Muskegon see their first dusting around November 8. Usually, the first inch of snow falls around November 20.

The first snow of the season arrived in Mid-Michigan last night, and some spots picked up a slushy inch of snow on the grass and other elevated surfaces.

Southeast Michigan is expected to see scattered snow showers between 3-4 a.m. Thursday as temperatures could reach freezing. Scattered snow showers could last through the morning commute. Snow accumulations up to one inch are possible, but most areas will likely be in the lower end.

This system will be far from the worst snow of the season, but it's officially breaking us out of our rainy spell and putting us into a more seasonable weather pattern. Many factors will cause some forecasting uncertainty, but regardless, our first flakes will be flying, causing us to issue a 13 Weather Impact Alert.
