The feature comes with previously announced privacy-related changes, but for now, Recall is only available in a preview Windows 11 build for Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs.

Previously available to Windows Insiders on Intel and AMD, you can now try Windows 11's controversial AI recording feature on Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ laptops.

After months of delay, Microsoft is finally ready to publicly test its controversial Windows Recall feature. Now available in the Insider Dev Channel, Copilot+ PCs with a Snapdragon processor can begin testing Recall.

Recall is basically a feature that’s supposed to give your PC a sort of “photographic memory,” making it easier to find things you’ve created, searched for, or interacted with over the past few months and pick up where you left off.

Today, Microsoft announced that Recall is coming off the bench — but there are some caveats. You need to be a Windows Insider on the Dev Channel and own a Copilot+ PC powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus chipset in order to access the preview of Recall.

Processors can handle Recall if they have neural processing units (NPUs) and can hit 40 TOPS (trillion operations per second). Meteor Lake CPUs have NPUs but don’t qualify for Recall. Since June, many new PCs that support Recall feature Microsoft’s Copilot+ branding. Many of the first CoPilot+ PCs sported Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chips.
