Shedeur Sanders ended up a fifth round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL draft after spending a good deal of time being discussed like he was a potential top five pick. He wasn't even the first quarterback the Browns took in the draft.

"I did not ever get any intel that the Cleveland Browns had him ranked high on their board," Russini said at the 14:45 mark of Tuesday's Scoop City podcast. "I think they saw that he was available in the fifth round, they met, they discussed it, and they went for it. They took a chance that maybe he can turn into something and be a player."

NEW YORK — Shedeur Sanders was not the only prospect to receive a prank call during the NFL draft. Kyle McCord, the former Syracuse quarterback who was taken by the Eagles last weekend, told Philadelphia-area media that someone tried to prank him while the draft was ongoing.
