Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remake puts some of the hardest puzzles in its first title, making the second a much more action-focused affair. A lot of players will burn through Soul Reaver 2’s puzzles with little to no effort compared to the first game.

Setting its sights on the rest of Crystal Dynamics' backlog, Aspyr has resurrected the Soul Reaver duology as the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered ($29.99 on console and PC, reviewed on PlayStation 5 ).

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered is going to be released on December 10, 2024. There haven’t been any official statements on release times, but we were able to find out when you can start playing, courtesy of the PSN store page. To make things even easier, the player merely has to interact with 3 objects, and the fight will be over without taking a single point of damage or using any of the game's combat mechanics — which were rather revered on the PS1.

Legacy of Kain is one of the most popular franchises in which players step into the coffins of vampires. The series made its debut in 1996 with Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, though the later Soul Reaver entries have been considered the pinnacle of the series.

Soul Reaver follows the events of the Blood Omen games, set in the same Legacy of Kain universe. In the Blood Omen games, players govern the actions of one of gaming's most powerful vampires, Kain. The Soul Reaver games focus on Raziel’s journey of revenge against Kain.

While many of you wouldn’t have batted an eyelid to the fact, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 have been re-released today. Frankly, I’m just not seeing nearly enough rejoicing online about this fact.
