Sony's Twisted Metal could have lived again as a live-service game if the publisher hadn't changed course.

A former developer on PS5's cancelled Twisted Metal game has revealed several new details, as well as some early images.

Thanks to the portfolio of a lead UI programmer who worked at Firesprite, one of many Sony-owned studios hit by layoffs in 2024, we know that the Twisted Metal game the studio was working on was "a 3rd person vehicular action combat game" that had "3rd person shooter mechanics wrapped with 3rd person vehicle combat with the objective of being the last one standing.

Brand new images of Sony's canceled Twisted Metal game have popped up online, hinting that developer Firesprite was making a live service that blended the series' signature vehicular combat with battle royale mechanics.
