Ian Cleary is facing charges of sexually assaulting a Gettysburg College student in 2013. Years later, he sent her messages on Facebook that helped break the case.

Ian Cleary, 31, who sent the accuser a Facebook message that said "So I raped you," was handed over to U.S. authorities in Paris.

The Appeal Court prosecutors’ office in Metz, in northeastern France, says Cleary was handed over to U.S. authorities at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport on Thursday.

An American accused of sexually assaulting a college student in 2013 and later sending her a Facebook message that said “So I raped you” was ordered held without bail Friday during a court hearing in Pennsylvania.
