Indonesia has handed Australia a road map for bringing the remaining members of the Bali Nine home, asking to “monitor” what happens to the prisoners when they return and leaving the door open for possible “reciprocation” in the future.

Indonesia is optimistic an agreement can be reached on the repatriation to Australia of the remaining five members of the 'Bali Nine' drug ring.

Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese raised the prisoner issue during a meeting with Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Peru.

Indonesia has already offered to transfer the five Bali Nine prisoners back to Australia under a “practical arrangement” that negates the need for new laws to be drafted, the country’s senior law minister told The Australian ahead of talks with Home Minister Tony Burke late on Tuesday.
