Aaron Taylor-Johnson tries his best in a supervillain offshoot that, like Sony's "Madame Web," may work better for comics fans looking for a campy hate-watch.

As a movie, "Kraven the Hunter" marks the beginning of the endgame for Sony's Spider-Man Universe, and you can just about feel that in the way Kraven's minor enhanced abilities turn him into little more than a generic comic-book bruiser.

Kraven the Hunter can climb sheer walls like a gorilla, snatch fish out of streams like a bear and outrun deer.
