Mikaela Shiffrin on Wednesday said she was happy to be home and resting after sustaining a puncture wound in her abdomen and severe muscle trauma during a giant slalom race in Killington, Vermont, last weekend.

American skier Mikaela Shiffrin said she suffered an abrasion on her left hip and that something ''stabbed'' her when she crashed during her second run of a World Cup giant slalom race Saturday, doing a flip and sliding into the protective fencing.

Mikaela Shiffrin extended her record World Cup victories to 99 with a win Saturday in the women's slalom in Gurgl, Austria.
