The 27-year-old son of Norway’s crown princess has been accused of a second rape just days after he was arrested on suspicion of the same offense.

On Nov. 19, Crown Prince Haakon spoke about the arrest of his stepson, 27, the day prior. Crown Prince Haakon is Marius' stepfather through his marriage to Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Mette-Marit welcomed her son Marius during a relationship that preceded her 2001 marriage to Haakon, and Marius does not have a royal role within the monarchy.

Earlier this week, Princess Mette-Marit's son, Marius Borg Høiby, was arrested on rape allegations. Though his mother is married to Crown Prince Haakon, Høiby is not a member of the Norwegian royal family. Still, he was raised alongside his step-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's son will be held in prison for up to a week while police investigate allegations of rape made against him, an Olso court ruled on Wednesday night. Marius Borg Hoiby, 27, was arrested on Monday night on suspicion of rape, marking the third time he has been arrested since August.

Marius Borg Høiby, 27 – who was born from a relationship prior to Mette-Marit’s 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne – was arrested on Monday for the third time since August.

A lawyer for the alleged victim said it was police who pursued the case and not her client, who she said is “having a hard time.”
