The Jackson Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect who allegedly killed a man over a pair of tennis shoes.

Jackson police Chief Joseph Wade said detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that he calls very sad and very disturbing. "This young man lost his life over a pair of tennis shoes," Wade said. "He refused to give up his shoes and he was shot in the head and his shoes were taken."

A man who was in custody in connection with a deadly shooting at a Jackson apartment complex was denied bond. Tuesday, a press release said Curtis “Scooter” Sawyer, 23, allegedly stole a pair of red Jordan gym shoes from a 44-year-old man before shooting him in the head at the Pine Ridge Garden Apartments.
