President Trump isn't kidding around with his new threat to the NFL's Washington Commanders, the White House says.

President Donald Trump is not playing around regarding the Washington Commanders. The Commanders have had a busy offseason, including trading for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel to bolster one of the top offenses in the NFL from a year ago.

Trump announced on Sunday that “the Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team” and claimed that “there is a big clamoring for this.” A short time later, he threatened to prevent the team from building a new stadium in D.C. if the name wasn’t changed back to the offensive one.

In an statement shared with Newsweek, the White House denied that an encounter described by Farmer took place.
