Hurricane Milton is predicted to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday near the Tampa Bay area, bringing a potentially deadly storm surge of up to 12 feet above ground level during high tide in addition to maximum sustained winds of 160 mph or more.

We won’t know if bridges close until the call is made by local officials. In Jacksonville, the call is made by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). They close the bridges when high winds make travel unsafe; they monitor wind speeds and will close bridges when necessary.
