With the swearing-in of Justice Manmohan, the Supreme Court’s working strength now stands at 33, just one short of its sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the Chief Justice.

Justice Manmohan stood at the number 2 position in the all-India combined seniority list of the High Court judges. Justice Manmohan was born in Delhi on December 17, 1962.

Justice Manmohan’s appointment was notified after President Draupadi Murmu issued the warrant of appointment on December 3. The Supreme Court collegium recommended the elevation on November 28.

Justice Manmohan also said that the country was a global leader in the fintech revolution and its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) had been widely recognised for its scale and efficiency.
