Officials are reporting at least three deaths amid a storm system that downed trees and power lines and left about half a million customers in the dark across Pennsylvania, Ohio and neighboring states.

Major storms left at least three people dead, caused extensive damage throughout the region, and left hundreds of thousands without power.

Severe storms caused widespread power outages and damage from Texas into the Northeast on Tuesday. In the Pittsburgh area, at least two people died as intense winds and rain brought down trees and power lines.
