The Boston Bruins got back on track Monday afternoon at TD Garden, scoring four goals in the third period to secure a 6-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
After losing a pair of one-goal leads early, Coyle's handiwork delivered a needed victory and, at least temporarily, push Boston back into a playoff position.
Coyle will start the game on the third line on the wing with Matt Poitras, who returns at center and Trent Frederic. Vinni Lettieri will play his first game in Boston this season in Coyle’s regular spot with Elias Lindholm and Brad Marchand. Oliver Wahlstrom will sit out with Coyle available.
Vinni Lettieri scored the first Bruins goal, and Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm added empty netters for Boston.
Will Smith came home to Boston with a goal and an assist in one of the best games of his young career. Fabian Zetterlund and Barclay Goodrow also scored for the Sharks, who have lost three straight. Yaroslav Askarov returned from an illness and made 27 saves.
