Cleveland’s offense floundered in 2024, leading the unit to finishing last in the league in numerous categories.

BEREA, Ohio — The Browns turned heads last season when, after a dramatic run to the playoffs, they reconfigured many of the key pieces of their offensive staff, most notably moving on from Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator and replacing him with Ken Dorsey.

The Browns were last in total points this season with fewer than 15 per game, and close to last in total yards and rushing yards.

Rees joined the Browns’ staff in 2024 and his only previous NFL experience came with the Chargers as an offensive assistant in 2016. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Alabama in 2023 and held the same title at Notre Dame during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The Browns’ dismal 3-14 season reportedly isn’t expected to impact the future of head coach Kevin Stefanski, but that didn’t stop Cleveland from making a major change to its staff less than a day after their 2024 campaign ended.

The interview took place on the same day that Stefanski hired his new offensive line coach, Mike Bloomgren, to replace the fired Andy Dickerson. Bloomgren, who worked under former Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan with the Jets in 2007-08, spent the previous seven seasons as head coach at Rice before being fired in October.
