Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Ajmer Dargah, Syed Zainul Abidin Ali Khan, the Sajjada Nasheen of the Dargah, said on Thursday that anyone can file a petition for "publicity" and "personal interest.

A court in Ajmer has issued notices to the Archaeological Survey of India and the Centre following a petition that claims that there is a Shiva temple in the dargah of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.

A Hindu group, Hindu Sena, has filed a lawsuit claiming the Ajmer dargah was built over a Shiva temple. They cite a 1911 book and seek an ASI survey, echoing the Gyanvapi and Krishna Janmabhoomi disputes.

An Ajmer court on Wednesday ordered the issuance of notices to three parties in a petition that claimed there is a Shiva temple inside Saint Moinuddin Chishti's dargah. The civil suit was filed in September.
