Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican legislative leaders reached a deal over illegal immigration Monday night that would require the governor to share enforcement powers with members of the Florida Cabinet.

Florida lawmakers will meet for another special session to consider proposals that would make Florida “the strongest state in the country for combatting illegal immigration,” according to Governor Ron DeSantis.

After a particularly contentious few weeks, Florida lawmakers will be heading back to Tallahassee Tuesday for the purpose of passing legislation on illegal immigration — this time with the governor's support.
