A child died in a car crash on I-5 in Northern California, with several others injured; the cause remains under investigation.

A child is dead and several people are injured after a major car crash on Interstate 5 in Northern California Saturday morning Around 10:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a crash scene on northbound I-5 near the I-80 split.

The single-vehicle collision involved a silver Lexus that spun out into a tree near the West El Camino exit on I-5 around 10:15 a.m., California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Tyson Shumway of the CHP’s North Sacramento office said.

A juvenile died Saturday after being injured in a spin-out crash on Interstate 5 in Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol said.
