Huawei Technologies on Tuesday launched its Mate XT, the world's first trifold smartphone, in Malaysia to kick off the international roll-out of the 5G device, as the US-sanctioned company moves to rebuild its once-lucrative handset business outside China.

On Tuesday, Chinese tech giant Huawei held a global launch for the industry's first tri-foldable phone in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Associated Press reported. The company's Mate XT, which was first launched in China in September last year, will have a price tag of €3,499 (about $3,660), the report added.

The tri-fold phone bends twice, creating three distinct sections. But here's the bad news: It's not coming to the US anytime soon.
