A holiday favorite in Chicago's loop is approaching. Thursday is early access only for Macy's Star Rewards Loyalty Members. Walnut Room reservations open up to the general public on Friday.

The Walnut Room at Macy's in Chicago is preparing for its 117th year of Christmas decorations and dining reservations, which open to the public on September 27.

The store is now known as Macy’s, but the tradition of the Walnut Room continues with its glitzy Christmas tree and special visits from Santa Claus.

Reservations are open for the historic Macy’s Walnut Room which is set to open its doors on Nov. 4 to bring back holiday cheer.

The Walnut Room continues to operate on the seventh floor of Macy’s State Street in Chicago. It first opened in 1907 as the South Tea Room and was officially named The Walnut Room in 1937.

The great tree installation starts at Macy's Walnut Room. Props including trumpets are already on display there. The theme for this year's tree will feature a toy shop that hangs from the ceiling.
