The Pittsburgh Steelers have been about average for most of Mike Tomlin's tenure with the organization, especially on the offensive side of the football. One thing that has stayed constant during Tomlin's time in charge is that the quarterback position has been a massive area of need since Ben Roethlisberger started to decline and eventually retired from the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may not have their starting quarterback for the 2025 season on their roster, which spells bad news for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Fields, who came to Pittsburgh via trade from Chicago in the offseason, started the first six games of the 2024 and led the Steelers to a 4-2 record. He threw for 1,106 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception and added over 200 yards on the ground and another five touchdowns.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping all options open under center for 2025. The team has yet to announce any specific interest in either of last year's starters but has stated it wouldn't rule out bringing back either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson - but not both.
