The Butte County community is coming together tonight to raise money for the families of two kindergartners who were wounded in a school shooting last week.

An investigation is ongoing after a gunman opened fire at a small religious school in Palermo Wednesday, seriously wounding two kindergartners before he reportedly shot and killed himself.

A day after a gunman shot two kindergarten students at a small, rural Butte County private school, the sheriff said the victims were in critical, but stable condition and had a “very long road ahead of them in terms of recovery.

Two children were in “extremely critical condition” after being shot at a tiny religious K-8 school in Northern California and the gunman died at the scene, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot, police said.
