A new wildfire was reported today at 4:57 p.m. in Fresno County, California. CA-FKU-ISLAND Fire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

A 39-year-old Stockton man was charged with attempted murder and arson after allegedly setting a probation officer ablaze.

Laguna Beach police said they identified the suspect as a 13-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of felony reckless burning of forest land.

A wildfire in the rural Lawson Valley area of East County that charred 50 acres and likely started from a vehicle’s catalytic converter was declared 100% contained Saturday, Cal Fire officials said.

The Madre fire burning in San Luis Obispo County has grown to become the largest wildfire California has seen this year. It comes after Southern California was ravaged by wildfires in January, which resulted in the widespread destruction of homes and the deaths of at least 29 people.

The Madre Fire is the largest wildfire in California in 2025 — surpassing the Los Angeles-area fires that devastated parts of the region in January.

Marble Complex Fire initially started 11:20 a.m. July 3 in Siskiyou County, California. After being active for nine days, it has burned 709 acres, an increase of 38 acres since the last update. As of Saturday evening, the fire crew managed to contain 35% of this wildfire. Investigations into its cause are still ongoing.
