FDA Announces Cucumber Recall in 26 States and Canada After Salmonella Outbreak
U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that SunFed Produce, LLC (SunFed) is recalling all sizes of whole fresh American cucumbers due to potential Salmonella contamination. The cucumbers were packaged in bulk containers and sold individually through retailers as well as in bulk to food service outlets.

Cucumbers recalled across U.S. and Canada over possible salmonella contamination
In a filing posted by the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday, SunFed said the recalled cucumbers were sold between Oct. 12 and Nov. 26 and are being pulled from store shelves over possible contamination by the bacteria. Salmonella can cause fatal infections in young children, elderly people or other individuals with weakened immune systems.

US Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Cucumbers Under Investigation by FDA and CDC
The outbreak of the infections has been linked to American-slicer cucumbers grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico. As of Nov. 26 a total of 68 people infected with the outbreak strain of salmonella have been reported from 19 states.
