An Orland Park, Illinois, man was arrested Sunday after allegedly cutting past the other voters in line at a polling location and punching an election judge.

An Illinois man was arrested after he alleged assaulted an election judge at a township office while early voting was in session. Daniel Schmidt, 24, alleged punched an election judge in the face after he was told to wait in line for his turn to vote.

Police said Daniel Schmidt punched a 74-year-old man in the face after refusing to go to the back of the line at an early voting site in Orland Park.

An Illinois man was arrested after police said he punched an election judge in the face. Officers responded Nov. 3 at about 11 a.m. to reports of a man “ causing a disturbance in the voting line ,” at the Orland Park Township Office, according to a Nov. 4 news release from the village of Orland Park.

A 74-year-old longtime election judge said in his nearly 40 years volunteering at the polls, there have been a few arguments—but nothing like the violence he faced Sunday. Charlie De Mar reports.
