India's major private telecom providers, Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone, experienced a combined loss of over 10 million wireless subscribers in September. In contrast, state-owned BSNL gained nearly 850,000 subscribers.

In September 2024, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea lost over 10 million wireless subscribers, while BSNL gained 8.5 lakh users. India's total wireless subscriber count declined to 1.154 billion amid recent tariff hikes.

BSNL, in fact, is looking to proactively woo subscribers and claw back market share, and recently launched a slew of new offerings and initiatives, ranging from spam blockers to automated SIM kiosks and direct-to-device services.
