SLUBICE, Poland (AP) — Poland reinstated border controls on Monday with Germany and Lithuania following similar German restrictions imposed earlier this year aimed at discouraging asylum-seekers.

Germany has maintained controls on its border with Poland since 2023, but recently adopted a tougher approach, rejecting undocumented arrivals and sending them back to Poland under EU and bilateral agreements. Polish authorities say this has placed an unfair burden on their country.

The Polish government reintroduced border control measures between Lithuania and Germany due to growing public concern over what many say is irregular migration.
