Memory-chip maker Micron finalized a U.S. government grant of up to $6.1 billion to build factories in New York and Idaho, part of a long-running effort to foster domestic semiconductor manufacturing.

The U.S. Commerce Department said Tuesday it had finalized a nearly $6.2 billion grant package for Micron Technology, the Idaho memory chipmaker that has plans to build a $100 billion fabrication campus in suburban Syracuse.
