Dr. Liam Cross and Dr. Gray Atherton conducted a study where people were shown pictures of real eyes expressing various emotions; participants then had to identify which emotion was being displayed.

Throughout, we observed how people’s faces moved. We also obtained recordings of more than 1,300 participants in free-flowing conversations with other (real) participants online.
