It's a messy start to Thanksgiving thanks to a high impact winter storm that's bringing heavy rain and snow to the Northeast that will delay last-minute holiday travel on Thursday.

By noontime, look for heavy rain in southern NH and beginning in southern Maine. Heavy snow is moving into the foothills of western Maine where temperatures are closer to that freezing mark. A defined rain-snow line will build and set-up on the west side of the I-95 corridor. Between 1PM and 8PM will be our worst travel times.

A powerful winter storm packing heavy snow, rain and even severe weather is set to snarl Thanksgiving travel in the eastern half of the U.S. after first walloping the West with winter weather that led to celebrations at ski resorts ahead of the holiday.
