North Korea opened a massive beach resort on its east coast to the public, state-run media reported Wednesday, with Russian guests expected to start arriving next week.

North Koreans are already splashing about at the mammoth Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist zone, built to accommodate nearly 20,000 visitors.

North Koreans swam, rode water park slides and enjoyed other water activities at a newly opened mammoth beach resort, state media reported yesterday, as the country largely maintains a ban on the entry of foreign tourists. The tourism pet project of leader Kim Jong-un is reportedly set to welcome Russian guests later this month.
