U.S. stocks finished off their best month in a year on Friday, with the Dow and S&P 500 clinching fresh record closing highs to cap off a blockbuster November. The Russell 2000 finished Friday just shy of what would have been its first record close since November 2021.

U.S. stocks are drifting around their records on Tuesday ahead of the week’s first big update on how well the job market is doing. The S&P 500 was virtually flat in early trading, a day after rising tech stocks helped it set an all-time high for the 54th time this year.

Still, the Dow was down slightly, dipping 0.1% as most stocks in the blue-chip equities index traded lower. This year is ending with "a little bit of uncertainty" about the economic outlook, and the U.

Technology stocks pulled Wall Street to another record amid a mixed Monday of trading. The Standard & Poor's 500 rose 0.2% from its all-time high set on Friday to post a record for the 54th time this year.
