When Maverick McNealy stuck a 6-iron from 183 yards on the par-4 18th hole at Sea Island’s Seaside Course to set up a 5-foot, 5-inch putt for his first victory at the 2024 RSM Classic, he admitted he was on autopilot.

Standing in the 18th fairway Sunday in the RSM Classic, part of a four-way tie for the lead that included Florida State sophomore Luke Clanton, the 29-year-old McNealy had every reason to be uncomfortable.

The Florida State junior is playing in his eighth PGA Tour event in 2024 and once again, he's hanging around the top 10 of the leaderboard. It's been an amazing year for the No. 1-ranked man in the World Amateur Golfer Ranking and he's within striking distance of joining Nick Dunlap as amateurs to win a PGA Tour event this year.
