For days before catastrophic floods left parts of Central Texas inundated, the National Weather Service was tracking the chance of rain.
After deadly floodwaters swept through Central Texas, there are questions about the timeline of weather alerts and possible gaps in the warning system.
The death toll from the devastating Texas floods has risen to over 110 people and at least 173 remain missing. Former NOAA Administrator Richard Spinrad joins Ana Cabrera to break down the timeline of the flood alerts and to provide more insight on response.

Along with a flooding risk, storms could produce isolated 50-60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. The tornado risk is extremely low because of a cold front boundary to our north and a couple of outflow boundaries. Joseph says the tornado index for the severe weather risk zone is 1 out of 10.
