A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of metro Atlanta for Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning.

ATLANTA — Another winter storm is making its way into Georgia on Tuesday. Gov. Brian Kemp issued a state of emergency and local school districts have canceled classes or moved to virtual learning. Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz is tracking the storm which is expected to bring 1-2 inches of snow in several areas.

Wednesday is a First Alert Weather Day following the snow that fell across parts of the metro during the afternoon and into the evening hours on Tuesday.

This broke the previous daily record of a track of snow from 2014. This brings our seasonal snowfall total up to 3.2 inches for the city of Atlanta. This is our snowiest winter in 8 years. In 2017-2018,

State officials held a press briefing Friday morning at the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) State Operations Center to update the public on their response to the winter storm impacting Georgia.

Jan. 20, 4:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has released its latest update on tomorrow’s winter storm. A winter storm warning is in effect from 10 a.m. on Tuesday to 7 a.m. on Wednesday across much of central Georgia with snow accumulation up to three inches.
