The administration of Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato and 10 members of county council reached a compromise budget this week that includes a 1.7 mil increase, representing a 36% hike that avoids any layoffs or significant budget cuts.

The agreement raises the county’s property tax rate to 6.43 mils — 1.7 mils more than residents currently pay, or a roughly 36% increase.
