Liverpool pay emotional tribute to Diogo Jota at Preston friendly - Liverpool have been in mourning since the news of Jota’s death came early on the morning of July 3.

Following warm-ups, Preston North End captain Benjamin Whiteman crossed the pitch and laid a memorial wreath at the foot of the away end, which was covered with banners, signs, and scarves honoring Jota. Whiteman’s respects were received very well from the traveling Kop.

Preston's captain Ben Whiteman laid a wreath in front of the Liverpool fans and bowed his head during that very emotional version of You'll Never Walk Alone. The fans were signing Jota's name too. Players from both sides have now gathered around the centre circle to hold a minute's silence in memory of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
