Though McElroy is certainly in the know -- he was the second quarterback to start at Alabama under Saban -- some of Saban's other collaborators aren't so sure that Saban is set on a return to the sidelines.

One of the unofficial starts to the season is taking place in Atlanta, as SEC Media Days is already halfway over. Some of the country’s top players are in the conference, including quarterbacks. Everyone seems to have differing opinions on who the conference’s top guys are.

Greg McElroy, the former Alabama quarterback and now an ESPN/SEC Network analyst, opined Monday that Saban, who retired after the 2023 season, could get back into coaching. McElroy downplayed it later, but by then SEC coaches were being asked about it, especially those who worked for Saban.

On his podcast "Always College Football," ESPN's Greg McElroy mentioned that some believe Oklahoma State can return to contention in the conference; however, he does not share that optimism.
