Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that Helldivers 2 will release on Xbox Series X|S on August 26. The hit shooter is a second-party game as Arrowhead itself is not owned by Sony but the IP is.

When Helldivers 2 first came out, anyone with a PS5 or Steam account could buy it. Then, out of nowhere, Sony enforced a rule that required players to have a PSN account to play.

Helldivers 2 was released for PS5 and PC in February 2024, and remains one of the most popular multiplayer titles for Sony’s current-generation home console.

Sony has also seen some success in the live-service arena, particularly with Helldivers 2 from developer Arrowhead Games, which has sold more than 12 million copies since its 2024 release.
