Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos said Friday (Dec 13) that the government has evacuated over 45,000 residents from villages around the active Kanlaon Volcano, which erupted on Monday (Dec 9),

The Philippines' Kanlaon volcano erupted for nearly four minutes, shooting ash 2.5 miles into the sky and prompting the emergency evacuation of some 87,000 people.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged residents affected by the Kanlaon Volcano eruption to follow local evacuation orders as the government strives to evacuate 84,000 people.
